 hhSeason opener tonight for the Golden Bears was a hard loss againsts Elmwood Royals. In the first quarter, Elmwood made it rain threes and took advantage with fast break points at the end of the first quarter to lead 21-12.

      In the second quarter, Elmwood went 2-2 behind the three point line and Gibsonburg went 3-5 with Kille hitting two threes and Erik Jahna connected with one three pointer. Before heading into halftime, Kille nailed a three pointer to bring the Bears close. Elmwood was leading 32-29.

      In the third quarter, Golden Bears defense held Elmwood with no three point attempts. Matthew Flores led the Bears in the fast break cutting the lead to 44-41 Elmwood at the end of the third quarter. 

      In the fourth quarter, Elmwood took advantage with fastbreak points and offensive of rebounds to defeat the Golden Bears in season opener 66-54

      The Golden Bears shot 7-12 at the free throw line. Golden Bears will be in action at Toledo Christaian on December 4.
